SUSTAINABILITY: THE ONLY POSSIBLE PATH
SUSTAINABILITY: THE ONLY POSSIBLE PATH
We have great respect for the environment as a whole and own surroundings in particular. Our direct contact with the land and its people has given us a key insight into the impact we make and has taught us how to design appropriate sustainable policies. Grup d’Avinyó’s business has always been based in the countryside and we are keenly aware of our environmental footprint. These close ties to the land have helped us implement effective environmental policies and invest in annual improvements, such as renewable energy and our rural surroundings.

"Facing the path to an environmentally sustainable world is no longer an option, it is an obligation."

We know we don’t have all the answers and that the path is long, but our environmental commitment is at the very heart of everything we do.
We plan to set up a methanation plant to turn organic material into biogas. Through a totally natural biological process, we will obtain a biogas with exactly the same properties and uses as natural gas.
Based on an initial investment of €1.2 million, this project will help us cut our energy consumption and reduce our environmental impact.
We set up the first industrial plant for the PigHeat project to generate energy from pig hair, together with the R&D&I department at Bigas Alsina, SA.
“By mixing pig hair from our abattoir with woodchips to create a biofuel, we create fuel for a conventional biomass boiler. By reusing a waste product, we can generate up to 10% of the energy we consume. This innovative solution reduces our waste and our greenhouse gas emissions.”
We installed our first solar panels.
We were pioneers in reusing treated waste water to irrigate more than 112 hectares of woodland.
